Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Yippee collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the Yippee website and related services. By using Yippee, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information we collect

We collect information you provide directly, information created through your use of Yippee, and limited technical information needed to operate the service.

• Account information. If you create an account or sign in with Google, we may collect your name, email address, authentication identifier, and optional phone number.
• Guest information. Guests may join a Function by entering a name and phone number. Yippee stores the guest name and phone number ending in the database so the guest can be identified for that Function. The full guest phone number may be stored in that guest’s own browser to help them return without re-entering it.
• Function information. We collect the event title, date or date status, details, location, budget or other optional planning fields, invite code, final date, RSVP status, availability selections, comments, and host controls associated with each Function.
• Authentication information. Account creation, login, password reset, and Google sign-in are handled through Firebase Authentication and Google services.
• Device and usage information. Hosting, security, analytics, and database providers may process technical information such as IP address, browser type, device type, pages requested, timestamps, and error information.
• Local storage. Yippee may use browser local storage to remember guest return details, app state, or similar preferences on the device you use.

2. How we use information

We use information to provide, maintain, secure, and improve Yippee. This includes:

• creating and managing accounts;
• creating, joining, displaying, editing, canceling, restoring, and deleting Functions;
• showing RSVPs, comments, guest lists, availability votes, and final event dates;
• helping logged-in users join Functions without re-entering their name and phone number;
• helping guests return to a Function on the same device or by using the Function code;
• preventing abuse, troubleshooting errors, and protecting the service;
• communicating with you about account or service-related matters when needed.

3. How information is shared

Yippee is designed for shared planning. Some information is visible to other people involved in a Function.

• Function participants. Names, RSVP statuses, comments, and availability selections may be visible to the host and other participants in that Function.
• Hosts. Hosts can view and manage Function details, guests, RSVPs, comments, and availability. Hosts can remove participants and delete or cancel their Functions.
• Service providers. We use third-party providers such as Firebase, Google, and website hosting providers to operate authentication, data storage, hosting, security, and related services.
• Legal and safety reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, to investigate abuse, or to enforce our Terms of Service.
• Business transfers. If Yippee is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

We do not sell personal information.

4. Data storage and security

Yippee uses Firebase and related cloud services to store account and Function data. We use technical and organizational measures intended to protect information, including access controls and database security rules. No online service can guarantee complete security.

5. Data retention

We retain information for as long as needed to provide Yippee, maintain account records, operate Functions, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Hosts may delete Functions, and users may update account information through account settings. Some information may remain in backups, logs, or records for a limited period after deletion.

6. Your choices

• You may update your name, email, and phone number in account settings.
• You may choose not to add a phone number to your account, but some guest join flows may request one.
• You may request deletion or correction of information by contacting us.
• You can clear local storage in your browser to remove guest return information stored on that device.

7. Children

Yippee is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can take appropriate action.

8. International users

Yippee is operated using cloud services that may process information in the United States and other locations. By using Yippee, you understand that information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than where you live.

9. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date and may provide additional notice through the website or other appropriate means.
